Former US President Donald Trump may be indicted in New York this week. He may be charged with secretly paying a porn star during the 2016 presidential campaign.
However, it will take more than a year to begin trial on any charges against the former president.
In a post on social media on Saturday, Trump claimed that he could be arrested at any time. He urged the supporters to protest if something like this happens.
In 2006, Trump had sex with porn star Stormy Daniels in a hotel room. During the presidential election in 2016, when Daniel opened up about it, Trump bribed him with 130,000 dollars through his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office began presenting evidence to a grand jury earlier this month.
If charged in the case, Trump would be the first former US president to face criminal charges. In New York, it takes more than a year for a trial to begin after an indictment in a criminal case. As such, the trial may begin when Trump begins campaigning for the 2024 presidential election.
