Rick and Morty will proceed, but without Justin Roiland

In an announcement offered to The Hollywood Reporter, Adult Swim / Cartoon Network communications senior vp Marie Moore introduced that the community has “ended its affiliation with Justin Roiland.”

According to THR sources, plans are presently underway for Roiland’s Rick and Morty roles to be recast, and co-creator Dan Harmon will take over duties because the present’s sole showrunner, although Roiland will nonetheless be credited as a co-creator.

A tweet posted to the official Rick and Morty Twitter account didn’t elaborate past that but said that the present’s remaining crew remains to be engaged on season seven.

According to a felony grievance initially filed in May of 2020 by an unnamed lady, Roiland allegedly “did wilfully and unlawfully inflict corporal damage” and “unlawfully violate the private liberty of” his then-partner, who was subsequently granted a protecting order towards him later that 12 months. Roiland pleaded not responsible to the costs.

As THR notes, Adult Swim remains to be within the thick of a large 70-episode order for extra Rick and Morty that it first finalized again in 2018, leaving it with few choices as to easy methods to transfer ahead without being related to Roiland. Roiland’s subsequent pre-trial look is about for April twenty seventh.
