Police searched Imran Khan’s residence at Zaman Park in Lahore in his absence when he was in Islamabad. They claimed that at that time AK-47 assault rifle and one case of bullets were recovered from that residence. At least 60 party leaders have been arrested on charges of violently obstructing the law enforcers. Imran Khan left for Islamabad on Saturday to hear the Tosakhana case. It was then that the Punjab Police forcibly entered his residence. Party leaders set up a ‘security camp’ outside Imran Khan’s residence. Police raided Imran’s residence in the morning to clear it. Earlier in an announcement, the police said that Section 144 has been issued there. Everyone is asked to please move away. The television footage shows the police breaking the iron gate at Imran Khan’s house.
At one point they took several PTI activists into their custody.
Law enforcement officials said they were fired upon. Hand grenades were thrown from inside Imran Khan’s house. On the other hand, an agreement was reached between the PTI and the administration on Friday to conduct raids at Zaman Park. After that, a contingent of police was deployed at Zaman Park on Saturday. Earlier, an anti-terrorism court allowed the search operation inside Imran’s residence. The police also demanded the recovery of hand grenade making equipment from the house. Punjab Police Inspector General Usman Anwar said in a press conference that the police have completed the search. Operation completed at Zaman Park. They recovered the AK-47. 5 Kalashnikovs were found. The legal status of these weapons is being assessed. Before the search, the surrounding area of the park was blocked with shipping containers.
