The police of the country filed a new case against the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. This new case was filed before the drama of his arrest in Lahore ended. This time, a case has been filed against him under several sections of the criminal law, including the ‘anti-terrorism’ case. This was reported by the Independent.
According to the news, the Lahore police filed the case against 70-year-old Imran Khan on Friday. The names of 2,000 leaders and activists of his party Tehreek-e-Insaf or PTI have also been added to it. The charges include attempted murder, creating disorder, rioting, intimidation, obstructing government officials, harassing the public, setting fires and using explosives to destroy government property.
The new complaints were filed by Police Inspector Rehan Anwar. He claimed that PTI workers carried out terrorist activities for Imran Khan. The violent riots that have been organized there are at the behest of Imran Khan. Punjab Police IG Usman Anwar said that despite the riots of Imran’s supporters, the policemen showed restraint. That is why there was no loss of life.
He claimed that Islamabad and Lahore police did not fire a single shot at PTI supporters.
Earlier, the court withdrew the arrest warrant against Imran Khan. After that new charges were brought against him. Khan was trapped in his house since last Tuesday. Lahore police made various efforts to arrest him. But on the call of Imran Khan, all his supporters went in front of his house and created a barrier to the police. The police went back after failing to arrest Imran due to human obstruction. He has been accused of selling state gifts while in power.
